Forgotten joys

“As a painter of fleeting moments, and ephemeral meetings, Nicolas Odinet finds his subjects in a corner of Normandy, between Rouen, Le Havre and Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer .In his canvases, there are no superfluous details nor abstract compositions . He captures moments of intimity instantly, with a style a the limit of hyperrealism .”

“....Nicolas Odinet paints with rapid strokes, catching the sunlight of a summer day, and capturing “fleeting moments of life”, as he calls them ....”

“....In his painting, he looks for moments of joy, beauty, of happiness without consequences, he is not sentimental about a look or a smile .

Using simple titles, he paints out simple pleasures ....”

Happy people

Thirty years ago, the owner of an Art Gallery in Paris, and a friend of well-known painters once said to me “the public never makes a mistake about a painter’s qualities”.
This is very true.

Nicolas Odinet is popular with collectors because his subjects are real people, living their everyday lives . Collectors recognise their friends and relations in Odinet’s characters . There is a certain joy of living in his painting, whether it be a little girl turning somersaults, a sulking chid, or an elegant lady in a hurry .

The story told on each canvas is quickly understood, but creates a magic link between the viewer and the painter .

Nicolas Odinet’s paintings speak to everyone spontaneously without the need for advertising, private viewing, official invitations, or champagne receptions.
Nicolas’s success is dire to the fact that he loves people, and this shows in his talent for painting .
